Media Art Education in the 21st Century – what is to be done? A pre-conference of ISEA 2008
The Media Art Education Summit is planned as a two days pre-conference to be scheduled prior to ISEA in August 2008 in Singapore (see http://www.isea2008.org/index.html), organised by the PacificRimNewMediaSummitEducation Working Group members/organising committee Nina Czegledy, Toronto, Lynn Hughes, Montreal, Daniela Reimann, Kiel/Linz, Trebor Scholz, New York, in co-operation Gunalan Nadarajan, artistic director of ISEA 2008, SG/USA, the Inter-Society for the Electronic Arts (ISEA), Leonardo Education Forum.
The Media Art Education Summit intends to address the diversity of areas of digital media, technological developments and trends. It aims to bring together local and international educational institutions and experts to enable dialogue among media artists and media art educators on contemporary issues in media arts. As an overall umbrella, the summit seeks to enable dialogue between the different social actors, such as media artists, media art educators, policy makers, and sponsors.
I will present the outline of the call for contributions of the Media Art Education Summit in order to enable dialogue and discussion. The call for contributions is currently in progress and will we be available soon here as well as on the ISEA Web site (see below).
