Es ist nicht so, dass die Filmvermittlung innerhalb der Bildmedien keine Geschichte hätte. Aber diese Geschichte ist verdeckt, ihre Öffentlichkeit verstreut und heterogen. Man muss deshalb auf die Suche gehen und an unterschiedlichen Orten, in verschiedenen Medien und Disziplinen nach Beispielen fahnden, anhand derer sich über bildinterne Vermittlungstechniken diskutieren lässt: Im Kino selbst mit seiner analytischen Kraft, im Fernsehen als Vermittlungsmedium zwischen Öffentlichkeit und Privatem, in Galerien und Museen, für die das Kino in den letzten Jahren zum attraktiven Bildspender avanciert ist. Neuerdings auch im „Bonusmaterial“ von DVDs oder im Internet.

videoart and activism in the 60s and 70s
The ways of showing videos n galleries and museums which have later became "traditional" -like the videoinstallations and the TVCCinstallations, or the videowalls-, were first presented in activist contexts. At the time, arose worldwide "video communities" where knowledges and tools were shared for creating new video products (new kinds of documentary films, or of theatre-pieces which had not yet a proper name, that of "video installations") and the results of this activity were shown in new spaces called "Video Theaters". The history of the interactions between the actvist world and that of the traditional art-system is fascinating, but still not well knowed.
Today, on one hand we see a new generations of artists who are very attracted by the early video experiencies of the late 60s and 70s, without really knowing them, and on the other the art system is recycling those experiencies, only it takes them off all their political power.
In Italy there have been some important experiencies, like that of the group "Videobase" (Rome), of Alberto Grifi (Rome), or of the group "Laboratorio di comunicazione militante" (Milan).
